-Project 2-

Project 2. A Multimodal Intervention to Improve Antihypertensive and Lipid-lowering Therapy

Effective interventions are needed to address the system-level, clinician-level, and patient-level barriers to appropriate treatment for hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Both computerized decision support (CDS) in the context of a robust electronic health record (EHR) and automated telephone outreach (ATO) with speech recognition (SR) to patients are promising interventions to overcome the barriers that physicians and patients encounter in efforts to treat these conditions.

This study will test the effect of CDS alone to physicians via the EHR and the effect of the addition of ATO to their patients to improve the treatment of hypertension and hyperlipidemia in primary care.
