Project 5. Impact of Vendor Systems on Ambulatory Medication Safety

There has been limited work assessing the effects of electronic prescribing (e-prescribing) systems on
ambulatory medication safety, particularly those
systems that are vendor-based.

The aims of this study are to:
     • determine the effects of e-prescribing systems on         ambulatory medication safety
     • compare rates of ordering medication errors, near         misses, and adverse drug events of recent adopters
versus experienced ongoing users who have been
using e-prescribing for one year or more.
